Access for All: Bringing the Library Beyond the Building
The Galesburg Public Library has become so much more than a building; it's a place where connection, comfort, learning, and exploration come to life every day.
But even with open doors, not everyone can make it inside.
Some of our neighbors face transportation challenges. Others juggle multiple jobs or family responsibilities. For some, sensory overload or accessibility barriers make visiting difficult. Here in Galesburg, we have a higher percentage of residents with disabilities than both the state and national average, which means library access matters more than ever.
Milestone Update
Thanks to generous community support, the Galesburg Public Library Foundation reached its initial Access for All fundraising goal at the end of 2025. This early momentum allows outreach efforts to begin—bringing books, learning, and connection beyond the library building and into neighborhoods and community spaces across Galesburg. As Access for All moves forward, continued donor support helps ensure these efforts reach as many people as possible.
