Who We Are

Explore The New Library

2025—Another new year beginning!

parent reading with children

Instead of denying yourself something as a new year’s resolution, make it a positive. Pledge to visit the library regularly. Libraries have evolved, and the Galesburg Public Library is a magnificent example.

It has fantastic curb appeal and outdoor spaces, and the pavers show community connection. Walking in, the space is open and inviting, and you will continue to be astounded by all the materials, services, resources, and programs that serve all ages. Sample what it has to offer, and you will find something to keep you going back.

Some offerings are the Children’s Area, Toddler Storytime, Lego Mania, Teen Zone, Book Clubs, Dungeons & Dragons Club, Genealogy, Adult Coloring, free movies, Tech Lab, and Study Rooms. They also have special events which, in the past, have included various arts & crafts, writer’s workshop, and even swing dance lessons. Of course, they still have books, audio materials, movies, and even baking pans to check out.

Pass the positive on by telling family and friends about a service or program they should check out. You will be drawn in by the talking and laughter, as well as silence, and the windows allow for wonderful views. It is not just a holding place for “content,” but is now a place to explore and create.

Your 2025 library resolution will provide you opportunities for life-long learning and enrichment, offer a place to connect with others, and a spot to personally relax and enjoy. The Galesburg Public Library is vital to Galesburg.

For me, being a member of the GPL Foundation Board and supporting its continued evolvement is also a positive. Expand your 2025 positive resolution by being a donor and volunteer as well as being a regular patron to the library.

Here’s to a positive 2025!
